Our Story

Jaenine and Mikaela are seasoned in the field of education, boasting over 20 years of combined experience. Their diverse roles as classroom teachers, reading specialists, coaches, adjunct professors, and curriculum consultants have equipped them with the expertise to elevate both and adult learning. Whether working with young learners or fostering adult education the Boston Literacy Ladies are dedicated to achieving excellence in all aspects of education. Our LETRS Certification makes us ideal for Science of Reading implementation, and our understanding of state standards and curriculum allow us to create consistency across your school. Jaenine Cortazar RodriguezM.Ed, CAGS, Ed.D candidate

With over 15 years experience in education, including public school, charter schools, and higher education, Jaenine brings a wide range of high leverage expertise creating successful systems at the classroom, school, and teacher preparation programs. Having worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, adjunct faculty, curriculum consultant, and ABA therapist, Jaenine has an innate ability to see the end goal, and create reflective action steps to achieve student success. Her trainings in Skillful Teacher, Analyzing Teaching for Student Results (ATSR, observation and evaluation), Professional Learning Community Facilitator, and Responsive Classroom make her repertoire extensive and adaptive to all of your learning needs.  

 

Jaenine has been recognized in her field by being asked to be a guest presenter at the Massachusetts Reading Association Conference, as well as the International Literacy Association Conference. She is currently earning her Educational Doctorate (Ed.D) in Leadership with a focus areas of study in Literacy.

Mikaela Myers, M.Ed
 

Mikaela is a seasoned educator with over ten years of experience in delivering impactful Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction. Her expertise in data analysis enables development of precise groupings and targeted plans tailored to meet student needs. With a deep understanding of the integration required across tiers, Mikaela crafts seamless Response to Intervention plans that centers the whole child. She is able to pull apart large curriculum tools to easily deliver professional development in bite size chunks digestible for teachers. Understanding the challenges of running an effective classroom, Mikaela breaks down areas of focus in instruction and management to best guide teachers. 

Mikaela has spent her entire career in Title 1, High Needs schools, and understands the nuances necessary to serve unique populations. Her Reading Specialist and English as a Second Language licensures help her instruct all students, regardless of their unique learning needs.
