Did you know that teacher clarity is one of the highest leverage teaching strategies you can put into your practice? Research shows the effect size of teacher clarity is .75, and anything over .4 falls within the zone of desired effects!
Teacher clarity will help elevate your instructional practice that transforms student learning. Why is it important?
🔍 It gives students direction: Students need to understand what they are learning and what success can look like, so their brain is hooked and engaged into the lesson. There is no guesswork in "what am I supposed to be doing right now."
🧭 It supports self-regulated learning: Having clear expectations helps students reflect on their learning and understand the progress they are making in the lesson.
🤝 It strengthens teacher-student-family communication: Clear learning goals makes it so easy to provide targeted, in the moment, bite size feedback to students that they can put into practice right away. You now have an actionable way to collect data on students' learning; which you can later present at family conferences.
📈 It improves outcomes: Now that instructional expectations are clear, feedback is more purposeful, we're building independent learners, and student voice is the center of our lessons. Teacher clarity can transform classrooms.
